BOE for upcoming Galaxy S27

Samsung may use display panels from the Chinese company BOE for its upcoming Galaxy S27 smartphones, according to a new report from South Korea.

BOE is reportedly trying to enter Samsung Electronics’ supply chain after another Chinese display maker, TCL-owned CSOT, secured a supply deal for the Galaxy A57 smartphone.

Samsung Display remains the main screen supplier for the Galaxy A57. However, CSOT is expected to supply a smaller share of the panels. The report says Samsung is now considering BOE as a secondary display supplier for the Galaxy S27 series. A final decision has not yet been made.

The possible move could help Samsung Electronics reduce production costs. Lower display costs may allow the company to manage rising memory prices more effectively.

The report also highlighted internal concerns within Samsung Group. Samsung Display is a major supplier for premium smartphone screens, including panels used by other global brands. According to Korean media reports, some within the group may worry that using BOE for a high-end Galaxy device could weaken Samsung Display’s position in future negotiations with companies such as Apple.

Chinese display manufacturers have become more competitive in recent years. Their panels are often cheaper than those made by Samsung Display. This pricing advantage may influence Samsung Electronics as component costs continue to rise across the smartphone industry.

Samsung has not officially confirmed whether BOE will supply screens for the Galaxy S27 series. More details are expected closer to the launch of the device.
