Sony’s upcoming Xperia 1 VIII smartphone has appeared online ahead of its official launch on May 13. The leaked marketing images reveal a redesigned rear camera layout while keeping several familiar Xperia design features.

According to a report by WinFuture, official promotional renders of the phone surfaced through an Amazon Germany listing. The images show the handset in Graphite Black, Garnet Red and Iolite Silver colour options. Reports also suggest a fourth gold variant could launch later.

The leaked renders indicate that Sony has changed the rear camera design on the Xperia 1 VIII. Earlier Xperia models used a long vertical camera strip. The new phone appears to use a rectangular camera module instead.

The images show the main and ultra-wide cameras placed at the top of the module. The periscope telephoto camera sits below them. Zeiss branding is also visible on the back panel, suggesting Sony will continue its partnership with the optics company for camera technology.

The front design appears largely unchanged. The Xperia 1 VIII is expected to keep thick bezels above and below the display. The selfie camera is placed inside the top bezel instead of using a punch-hole design.

The leaked renders also show a dedicated camera shutter button on the side. Sony appears to retain its flat display design and metal frame. Earlier leaks suggested the phone may also keep the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Reports claim the Xperia 1 VIII could feature a 6.5-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The device is also expected to offer up to two days of battery life.

Sony is expected to price the Xperia 1 VIII at EUR 1,868.99, which is roughly Rs. 2.08 lakh, in some European markets. In the UK, the phone could start at GBP 1,728, or about Rs. 2.22 lakh.

Sony will officially unveil the Xperia 1 VIII on May 13 at 1 pm Japan time, which is 9:30 am IST for Indian viewers.
