Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 Max will launch in China later this month. The company shared the announcement on Wednesday through official teasers posted on Weibo.
The upcoming smartphone is expected to join the Xiaomi 17 series lineup. The range already includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra models.
Teaser images released by Xiaomi show that the Xiaomi 17 Max will feature a large 6.9-inch flat display with slim bezels. The handset also appears with a rounded rectangular rear camera module. This design is different from the circular camera layout used on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
Xiaomi has confirmed that the phone will be available in black, blue, and white colour options.
Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group, described the Xiaomi 17 Max as a “fully upgraded” version of the standard Xiaomi 17. He said the device is more than just a larger model in the lineup.
The company has also opened pre-reservations for the smartphone in China before its official launch.
Several leaks have hinted at the expected hardware details of the Xiaomi 17 Max. Reports suggest the handset could feature a 1.5K LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It may also include symmetrical dual stereo speakers, strong water resistance, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
The smartphone is expected to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It could be paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
For photography, the Xiaomi 17 Max is tipped to include a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP-series primary camera. The rear camera setup may also feature a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom support.

Battery capacity could be one of the phone’s biggest highlights. Reports suggest the Xiaomi 17 Max may pack an 8,000mAh battery. If confirmed, it would become the largest battery used in a Xiaomi smartphone so far.
The handset is also expected to support 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging with PPS support.
Previous reports suggested that Xiaomi may place the Xiaomi 17 Max in a higher price segment than the standard Xiaomi 17. The larger display, flagship camera hardware, and bigger battery are believed to be the main reasons behind the expected pricing difference.
Xiaomi is expected to announce more details, including pricing and availability, during the official launch event in China later this month.
